Role overview

The Test Automation Engineer builds and maintains automated test coverage for Kontron’s embedded/wireless products, growing the team’s automation practice. This role bridges manual test execution with automation, integrating tests into CI/CD to catch issues before they reach the field. Success in this role means growing, reliable automated test coverage and fewer regressions escaping to later stages.

Location: Skopje, North Macedonia

Mission and main responsibilities

  • Design and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks (e.g. pytest, Robot Framework, or similar) for embedded/Linux-based products
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab)
  • Execute and analyze test results, and work with developers to reproduce and document defects
  • Contribute to growing the balance between automated and manual testing across the team
  • Support use of protocol/network testers (e.g. CMW500) for automated test scenarios where relevant
  • Maintain test documentation and requirements traceability records

Candidate profile

  • Technical university degree (e.g. FEIT, FINKI, or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical/Telecom Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in software testing, including test automation
  • Scripting skills (Python or Bash); comfortable with a test automation framework
  • Understanding of Linux-based systems
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab) or network/protocol testers
  • Fluent English, written and spoken
